There’s nothing better than having a vehicle that looks clean and shiny all the time. However, between dust and grime on the outside and stains and dirt on the inside, your vehicle can quickly begin to look worse for the wear. With these simple tips, you can keep the inside and outside of your Toyota in good condition and looking like new.
Avoid Dish Soap When Washing
Dirt, tree sap, bird droppings, dead insects, and airborne particles can all damage your vehicle’s paint. This is why it’s important to wash your vehicle at least every two weeks. When you do, make sure you use a soap designed for cars instead of dish soap. The dish soap breaks down grease on your cooking pans. However, this also means it can remove the wax off of your vehicle. You should also use microfiber towels instead of terry cloth towels since terry cloth towels can leave faint scratches that will dull the paint’s finish over time.
Wax at Least Twice a Year
Once done cleaning your car, don’t forget you might need to wax it. Wax can help protect your vehicle’s paint from discoloring or fading. If you regularly park your vehicle in a garage and have moderate weather most of the year, you can wax your car twice a year. However, if you live in a snowy or icy region, you’ll want to wax your vehicle three or four times a year.
Clean the Seats
After you have the outside of your vehicle clean, it’s time to turn your attention to the inside. Your seats are likely the dirtiest part of your car. If you ever accidentally spill soda or coffee on your seats, use a paper towel to gently blot the liquid and keep it from sinking into the foam cushion. Next, use a foaming carpet cleaner to remove the rest of the spill. If you have a dried stain, lightly dampen it with water and then use the foaming carpet cleaner to remove it.
Give it a Good Vacuum
To make sure the inside of your vehicle is as clean as possible, you’ll want to vacuum every surface you can reach, including the floor mats, floorboards, seats, dashboard, and vents. A wooden kebab skewer can help loosen and scrape away debris that’s lodged in crevices and other hard-to-reach places. Just keep in mind that you want to avoid banging the hard vacuum nozzles against soft spots to prevent dings and scratches.
Protect the Inside From Sun Damage
Just like your skin, the inside of your vehicle also needs protection from sun damage. Once the interior of your vehicle is clean, apply a conditioner that has UV protection on any plastic and vinyl components to prevent them from drying out and cracking. You can also apply a leather conditioner on your leather seats for the same type of protection.
When you follow these helpful tips, you’ll be able to keep the inside and outside of your Toyota shiny clean and looking like new.
